HVS, along with our friends at Bird & Bird (lawyers), AlixPartners (business recovery specialists) and EP Business in Hospitality (industry insights), are delighted to present our next seminar – live and in person – which will be held in central London on Wednesday 14 September at 9:30 am.

Entitled “Managing and financing hotels through ultra-high inflation”, the event will examine the impact of inflation on UK and European hotel revenues, costs and profitability, as well as its effects on M&A activity and financing.

You have to cast your mind back to the early 1990s to recall the last time inflation ran rampant through the UK economy. This means that many people in the hotel market will not have the muscle memory for how to navigate this particular challenge. In addition, this particular inflation shock is different again as it is driven primarily by supply-side issues rather than a simple excess of demand. This event aims to shed some light on how this is playing out in the market in terms of top-line performance, the impact on profitability, what can be done operationally to cope with the issues and how it is impacting the financing and transaction markets.

There will be a couple of short scene-setting presentations to kick off the proceedings by Thomas Emanuel, Director of STR Global, and Kathrin Cockhill, EMEA Director of Hotstats. These will be followed by a lively panel session, including Jan Hazelton (Kerzner), Aiden McAuley (Accor) James Salford (Bird & Bird), and Graeme Smith (AlixPartners), to be moderated by Russell Kett (HVS).

The event will be preceded by a networking breakfast and there will be further networking opportunities afterwards.

Places are limited and subject to confirmation, so to register your interest in attending as soon as possible.
